Lamborghini Madura

Mirror, mirror on the wall, who’s the maddest of them all? Forget the mirror, ask any car bore worth his salt and the answer will definitely be Lamborghini. Remember the Countach? the Miura? and more recently, the Reventon (pronounced reBenton)? These are cars with the soul of the raging bull powering them.

It comes as little surprise then, that when the Munich University of Applied Sciences wanted to host an event to inspire and showcase the designers of tomorrow, they aptly named the show the ‘Lamborghini Raw Materials Project for automotive design and engineering’.

Slavche Tanevski, a designer at the university showcased his rendition of the Lambo of tomorrow, the Madura.

Sadly, the ideas of tomorrow come in a shade of green and as a result, propelling this bull would be a hybrid or an electric motor. Err..much like the original green stuff powering normal bulls I’d say.

Named after an Indonesian island famous for bull races, the Madura has lines that only Lamborghini is mad enough to realize. Up front, the Madura features slim headlights (to emphasize the cars’ width), huge air intakes, and a curvaceous hood which houses the motor.  Small wonder then, what becomes of the handling? You see, current electric motors are rather heavy and as a result, when thousands of them are used to power something ‘fun’ a la Tesla, the handling takes a severe beating.  Couple this with a heavy front end and you might as well do away with the steering wheel.

Slated for a 2016 launch, the Madura may be Lamborghini-esque design but with a green belt tightening its nostrils, how can this bull breathe fire like its current stable mates?

For me..I hope they don’t give in to the Green demands of the eco-lobby for I like my Lambo’s the way they are, a single point reference of the seven sins.
